A simple phone call and/or free screening will let you know if occupational therapy is right for you.
Our occupational therapists and certified occupational therapy assistants (COTAs) ask, "What matters to you?" not, "What's the matter with you?" Our licensed occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants (COTAs) treat your injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. We help you develop, recover, improve, as well as maintain the skills needed for daily living and working. A major focus of occupational therapy is rehabilitation of the upper extremity (i.e., shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist, hand) while evaluating your daily living needs. No matter the setting, the role of occupational therapy in upper extremity rehabilitation is to return you to meaningful participation in your daily activities. Evaluation of your daily living needs can be an assessment of your home and work environment. Your occupational therapist may recommend changes in those environments that will help you continue your activities. We can also recommend adaptive equipment and training in its use, as well as, guidance and education for family members and caregivers. Occupational Therapists have a holistic perspective, in which the focus is adapting the environment to fit you. You are always an integral part of the therapy team. In this setting, our occupational therapists specialize in hand therapy and are certified in Astym Therapy (see specialties), Vitalstym Therapy (see specialties), and Lymphedema therapy (see specialties).
